The San Francisco Municipal Transportation
Agency’s board of directors approved a $2.5
million contract on Tuesday, November 1st, to a
company that investigates workers compensation
claims.
Workers comp claims at the SFMTA,
which operates Muni, are numerous, with an
average of 700 reports filed each year. About 25
percent of those claims merit extensive
investigation, according to the agency.
To monitor any potentially dubious reports, the
SFMTA outsources its claims investigations to an
independent contractor. On Tuesday, the agency
will vote on a five-year contract worth $2.5
million with Probe Information Services Inc., a
firm that specializes in worker compensation
claims.
